BadAss Center-Mount Bolt-On Hinges: self-closing without welding
The Shut It BadAss center-mount hinge is a heavy-duty, self-closing gate hinge that bolts on, for gates where welding is not an option. It is CNC machined for near frictionless movement and runs on two sealed bearings that never need greasing, which also reduces wear on automatic gate systems.
Load and closing force
D&D Technologies rates the hinge for gates up to 1,001 lb, with a maximum gate load of 2,000 lb. For self-closing, the limit depends on the combination: up to 441 lb with two closers (2 x CI3835), or up to 300 lb with a closer and plain hinge set (CI3860). The closing force has five tension settings.
Fit and adjustment
The hinge bolts to gate and post and is horizontally adjustable for a precise installation. It works with a gate gap of 72 to 3-3/8" and is specified for pedestrian, pet, privacy, security and public or commercial gates. It is also suited to panic-bar installations.
Options and warranty
Choose the set (CI3860) or an individual hinge (CI3835). Body and yoke are steel, the hinge is tested to over one million open and close cycles, and D&D backs it with a limited lifetime warranty.

Frequently asked questions
How heavy a gate can the BadAss center-mount bolt-on hinge handle?
D&D rates the hinge for gates up to 1,001 lb. The self-closing capacity is lower: up to 441 lb with two closers, or up to 300 lb with a closer and plain hinge set. Staying inside the self-closing rating is what keeps the closing action reliable.
How is the BadAss center-mount hinge fixed to the gate?
It bolts on to gate and post, so no welding is needed. Fasteners are ordered separately so you can match them to your gate material.
What is the D&D part number for the BadAss center-mount bolt-on hinge?
CI3860 for the set and CI3835 for an individual hinge. Quote that number when you order and we ship exactly that item.
What warranty comes with the BadAss center-mount bolt-on hinge?
D&D Technologies backs it with a limited lifetime warranty. Warranty terms vary with the application and usage, so keep your proof of purchase and register the product with D&D.
