The Watchman wire mesh gate
Watchman is Tarter's series for small herds, horses and smaller animals. Each gate has a 1-3/4" round steel tube frame, stands 50" tall and is filled with welded wire, so hooves stay out of harm's way and smaller stock cannot push between the rails.
Painted or galvanized
Painted gates in Green, Blue, Gray and Black have 2" x 4" 8-gauge wire fill and a corrosion-resistant finish. The galvanized gate, in 4' and 6', has graduated wire spacing, tighter toward the bottom, and a welded chain latch.
Frequently asked questions
What is Tarter known for?
Farm and ranch equipment from Dunnville, Kentucky, starting with gates in 1945. Today Tarter builds gates, panels, feeders and livestock handling equipment, sold through authorized dealers such as Fenceweb.
Which Tarter gates does Fenceweb carry?
The Watchman wire mesh gate in 3', 4' and 6', 50" tall. It comes painted in Green, Blue or Black, in Gray in 3', and galvanized in 4' and 6'.
Which Tarter gate suits small livestock?
The Watchman wire mesh gate. Its wire fill keeps sheep, goats and foals from pushing between the rails. For cattle and crowded pens, Tarter's heavier tube gates are the better fit.
Why is my Tarter gate shorter than its listed size?
On purpose. A Tarter 1-3/4" tube gate is about 3" shorter than listed, so a 4' gate is roughly 45" long and fits a 4' opening with room for the hinges.
