The extra 2' is the security
An 8' panel is much harder to climb than the standard 6' one, which is why it is the choice for long-term sites, yards with valuable equipment and anywhere intruders are expected. Check local code before you put it up: some areas regulate fences over 6'.
Why it has a cross brace
At this height the frame carries a vertical and a horizontal brace, which keeps it square and holds the mesh tight all around. The same panel stands, clamps and gravel bags as the 6' panel fit it; add ballast where the wind is strong.
