Galvanized gabion fence post for double wire panels
This steel post is used to build a gabion fence from double wire panels. The post is 7-1/2" wide and the panels hang in the post on both sides, forming a basket that is then filled with stone. It makes a self-built gabion wall straightforward.
Sizes and finish
The post is galvanized steel and comes in lengths of 5'2", 5'10", 6'6" and 7'10". Each post is 2' longer than the fence height, because 2' goes into the ground.
Installation
Set the posts 2' into the ground. Dig the hole with an auger or spade, then fix the post with quick-setting concrete or concrete mortar so it stays firm and does not sink over time. Hang the double wire panels in the posts, then fit spacers to hold both sides of the basket together so the weight of the stone does not push the panels apart.
