The upgraded Gatemaster Superlock BLD 2.0 combines a day-to-day latch with a key-operated deadlock, supplied here with a plain black lever handle.
Stronger, Sleeker, More Durable
For everyday use, the handles operate the latch; turning the key then deadlocks it for added security. A stainless steel latch bolt projects 5/8" into the gate post and extends to 1-1/4" once deadlocked. The slim 2-3/4" case suits a variety of gate styles, and the latch bolt is adjustable in length and can be rotated for left- or right-handed gates. A guide plate with a brass bearing is included to help the lock last.
Sizes and Options
Available in two sizes: 1030 for 1/2" to 1-1/4" square tube gate stiles, and 4060 for 1-1/2" to 2-1/4" gate stiles, each supplied with a choice of a plain lever handle (P) or a traditional handle (T). The lock is double-sided, with handles and keyed access on both sides, and pairs with the Superlock keep for increased security and product life. Installation
- 1Drill two 3/8" holes at 5-1/2" centers for the fixing bolts provided
- 2Drill a 3/4" clearance hole for the latchbolt, centered 2-3/8" above the bottom fixing hole
- 3Hold the lock against the back of the box section and screw the latchbolt on through the larger hole.
- 4Lock the latchbolt by inserting the hex key supplied into the end of the latchbolt.
- 5Fix the lock in place with the stainless steel bolt support plate and the countersunk screws supplied, and check that the latchbolt still moves freely.
- 6Fix the strike plate to the gate post, either by welding or with screws.
Maintenance
Every 6 months, lubricate the latchbolt with light oil. Once a year, dismantle the lock and spray the mechanism with light oil to get the longest life out of the product.

Will it survive outdoors all year?
It is built for it. The bodies are pressure die-cast and powder-coated, latchbolts are stainless steel and the keypads are marine grade, so salt air and rain are not a problem. Follow the maintenance schedule on this page - a spray of light oil a few times a year is what keeps a gate lock feeling new after a decade outside.
What warranty comes with this product?
Gatemaster gives a 5-year warranty on the Superlock 2.0 range and a manufacturer's warranty on the rest of the program, covering defects in material and workmanship. Keep your invoice: that is the proof of purchase a claim is assessed on. Damage from forcing, from the wrong installation or from missed maintenance is not covered - which is why the maintenance schedule on this page is worth following.
Is this in stock and how fast can I get it?
Gatemaster hardware is part of our standard program, so the common versions ship from stock. If you need a quantity for a project, or you are not sure which version fits your gate, ask us for a quote - we will check the frame size and handing with you before anything is picked.
How do I know whether I need a left-hand or a right-hand lock?
Stand on the outside of the gate - the side you approach from. If the hinges are on your left, you need a left-hand lock; if they are on your right, a right-hand lock. Gatemaster locks in this range are reversible: you loosen the locking screw in the end of the latchbolt with the 0.118" hex key supplied, turn the bolt through 180 degrees and tighten it again.
