Galvanized gabion post for a stable stone-filled fence
These posts let you build a steel gabion wall from double wire panels yourself. The panels hang in the posts, and the space between them is filled with stone. The posts are 7-1/2" wide and made of galvanized steel.
Installation
The posts are extended by 2' as standard, so they can be set 2' deep in the ground. Dig the hole with an auger or spade and fix the post in concrete or quick-setting concrete, so it stays firm and does not sink over time. That keeps the whole gabion stable.
Spacers
Use spacers to stop the baskets bulging under the weight of the stones. They hold both sides of the gabion firmly together. The number needed depends on the height:
- 3'4" high: 15 spacers
- 4' high: 18 spacers
- 4'8" high: 20 spacers
- 5'10" high: 25 spacers
