Gatemaster heavy duty electric release with gate-closed switch

The ERHDM is a robust electric release for access-controlled gates. It is morticed into the gate frame, and its integral switch can be used to confirm that the gate is closed.

Lock body (incl. lip): 85 x 35 x 1-3/4" (44 mm) Short faceplate: 124 x 32 x 1/8" (3 mm) Long faceplate: 165 x 32 x 1/8" (3 mm)

The release can be converted to fail safe, where it unlocks when the power fails, or to fail secure, where it remains locked when the power fails. Choose the mode your application requires: fail safe where people must always be able to get out, fail secure where the gate must stay locked.

Materials and dimensions

A stainless steel faceplate and a deep locking tongue allow for more gate tolerance. The lock body, including the lip, measures 3-3/8" x 1-3/8" x 1-3/4". Two faceplates are listed: a short one of 4-7/8" x 1-1/4" x 1/8" and a long one of 6-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 1/8".

Installation

The release is morticed into the gate frame and wired into the gate's access control. We recommend you have it installed by an electrician or an electric gate specialist.

Frequently asked questions

Will it survive outdoors all year?

It is built for it. The bodies are pressure die-cast and powder-coated, latchbolts are stainless steel and the keypads are marine grade, so salt air and rain are not a problem. Follow the maintenance schedule on this page - a spray of light oil a few times a year is what keeps a gate lock feeling new after a decade outside.

What warranty comes with this product?

Gatemaster gives a 5-year warranty on the Superlock 2.0 range and a manufacturer's warranty on the rest of the program, covering defects in material and workmanship. Keep your invoice: that is the proof of purchase a claim is assessed on. Damage from forcing, from the wrong installation or from missed maintenance is not covered - which is why the maintenance schedule on this page is worth following.

Is this in stock and how fast can I get it?

Gatemaster hardware is part of our standard program, so the common versions ship from stock. If you need a quantity for a project, or you are not sure which version fits your gate, ask us for a quote - we will check the frame size and handing with you before anything is picked.

What is the difference between fail safe and fail secure?

Fail safe means the release unlocks when the power fails; fail secure means it remains locked when the power fails. The ERHDM can be converted to either, depending on what your application requires.
