The Equinox garden gate
The gate has an aluminum frame filled with composite slats. The frame takes the colors of the Equinox posts and the slats match those of the fence, so the gate disappears into the run instead of standing out.

- Heights: 63" with nine slats, 68-7/8" with ten, or 74-3/4" with eleven.
- Frame: aluminum, powder coated in Anthracite Gray RAL 7016, Quartz Gray RAL 7039 or Black RAL 9005.

Why a gate needs its own post
A gate leaf is heavy and it swings, so its post takes a load a fence post never sees. The Equinox gate post is 3-7/8" x 3-7/8", heavier than the fence posts. It comes 7'6-1/2", 8'0-1/2" or 8'6-3/8" long, powder coated in Anthracite Gray RAL 7016, Quartz Gray RAL 7039, Black RAL 9005 or Teak. A gate needs two of them.
Matching the gate to your fence
Pick the gate height closest to the height of your fence, and the frame color that matches your posts. Because the slats are the same composite as the Equinox boards, the gate looks like one more bay of the fence. The gate can also be fixed to a wall or a pillar instead of a post.
Installing the gate
- Set the two gate posts 24-3/4" deep in concrete. For the 39-3/8" gate they stand 39-3/8" apart.
- Let the concrete cure so the posts cannot move.
- Set the bottom hinge 13/16" above the ground.
- Slide the gate leaf onto the bottom hinge and refit the top hinge.
- Adjust the receiving plates so the gate closes cleanly.
What else to order
Order two Equinox gate posts per gate. If the gate sits in a run of composite fence, the fence posts, slats, rails and caps come from the same Equinox system, so colors and profiles match.
Which width should I choose?
The 39-3/8" gate suits a garden path or a side entrance for people. The 47-1/4" gate leaves more room for a wheelbarrow, a mower or garden furniture. Measure the opening you want to close before you set the posts, because the posts are spaced to the gate width. Then pick the height closest to the fence beside it.
Care and adjustment
