Accessories

Temporary fence accessories are the parts that join, steady, secure and finish a run of temporary fence panels. Couplers clamp the panels together, tube stands, stabilizers and weights keep them upright in the wind, anti-lift brackets and lockable couplers make them harder to remove, and covers, reflective strips and gate kits complete the site. Most parts are made by ZND for ZND panels. Read more

What do temporary fence accessories do?

A temporary fence is a line of freestanding panels in tube stands, clamped together with couplers. Every other part here holds that line steady, makes it harder to open, or adds a gate, a screen or cable routing.

The ZND parts here are made for ZND temporary fence panels, and the product data names the Installer Pro, Plus and Max panels as the fit for stands, stabilizers and anti-lift brackets.

Which coupler do I need?

Fit two couplers per joint, one at the top and one at the bottom. Choose the type by the site:

  • Fence Coupler, Standard: a pre-galvanized carbon steel clamp for routine site and event layouts, quick to fit and quick to remove.
  • Fence Coupler HD (Gripper): a heavy-duty gripper clamp in Grade S275 carbon steel that reduces movement at the joints on long runs.
  • Fence Coupler HD (Griplock): a heavy-duty locking coupler that helps deter unauthorized panel removal on public-facing sites.
  • Ring Coupler: two loops of different sizes for joining panels at awkward angles, on uneven ground or to driven posts.
  • Extension Panel Coupler HD (Gripper): clamps a ZND Fence Extension Panel to the top rail of a square-top panel.

The Coupler Spanner, 11-1/2" long, gives installers leverage on ZND couplers, tamper-resistant ones included. The Lockable Coupler Socket locks compatible tamper-resistant couplers, and the Lockable Coupler Spanner Socket is turned on with a spanner so the fitting cannot be loosened by hand.

How do I stop temporary fence from blowing over?

Wind is the main load on a temporary fence, and a cover or screen adds to it. Build up the support to suit the site:

  1. Stand every panel in a Tube Stand, the pre-galvanized steel base of 9.7 lb that holds panels upright on hard, level ground.
  2. Add ballast where needed. The Z-Block Fence Weight sits on top of the tube stand, is high-visibility yellow and an alternative to sandbags.
  3. On exposed or long runs, add a Fence Stabilizer, or the Fence Stabilizer with Brace for slopes, rough ground and windier sites. Fix it with Stabilizer Pin HD pins, two per ZND Fence Stabilizer kit, or with an Earth Anchor where you are allowed to dig.
  4. On open sites, use the Windbreaker system: the Windbreaker Stabilizer, the reinforced Windbreaker Plus Stabilizer for long runs, the Cinder Block Tray for the Standard and Plus stabilizers, and the Windbreaker Cinder Block Tray and Windbreaker Bottom Tube for the Elite system.
  5. On sidewalks and walkways, the Windbreaker Zero-Trip Stabilizer and Zero-Trip Stabilizer Base keep a low profile to reduce trip hazards, and the Zero-Trip Foot does the same in the Elite system.

How do I make the fence harder to open?

The Anti-Lift Bracket holds a panel down on its stands, so nobody can open the line by lifting a panel out. One comes in every ZND stabilizer kit, and it is also sold on its own.

For a stronger perimeter, the Barbed Wire Extension mounts on top of a panel and carries barbed wire above the mesh. It is electro galvanized and weighs 3.3 lb. The Fence Extension Panel, 12 ft x 2'11", raises a line of square-top panels for extra security or screening.

Covers, reflective strips and cable hooks

ZND fence covers are HDPE screens that block about 85% of the view through the fence. There are two sizes, each in black, green or blue:

  • 5'8" x 50 ft, sized for 6 ft temporary fence panels.
  • 7'8" x 50 ft, sized for 8 ft temporary fence panels.

Custom printing on the covers is available by quote. Reflective Fence Strips are UV printed PVC, 12 ft long, in orange-white or red-white, so drivers and pedestrians see the fence line in low light. The Cable Containment J Hook hangs power and lighting cable on the panel frame, and the J Hook Foot keeps it in place at ground level.

Gates for a temporary fence

  • Pedestrian Gate 6 ft Anti-Climb: a padlock-compatible entry point with anti-climb welded mesh.
  • Single Sliding Gate: a kit that turns one panel into a sliding pedestrian gate, for sites with no room for a swinging leaf.
  • Double Sliding Gate: a kit that turns two panels into a wide sliding vehicle gate.
  • Gate Hinge Coupler: lets a panel swing as a gate. Sold individually; a swing gate needs four.
  • Gate Latch, Male Side and Female Side: the two halves of the ZND gate latch, with room for a padlock.
  • Gate Wheel Assembly: two wheels that carry the weight of a gate, so it opens without dragging or sagging.

Barriers, blocks and storage

Slot Blocks are freestanding 6 ft wide blocks of 855 lb each, in red or white, for marking off areas. The Flat Foot for Bar Barrier is required with the lightweight bar barrier, and the Double Flat Metal Foot and the Cycle Barrier Foot are listed for other barriers.

For storage and transport, the Universal Fence Panel Stillage holds 35 panels of 6 ft, and the Barrier Stillage 25 holds 25 fixed leg or bar barriers. The Fence Panel Lifting Handle gives crews a dedicated grip for carrying panels.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How many couplers do I need per panel joint?

Two per joint: one at the top and one at the bottom of each panel-to-panel connection.

How do I stop a temporary fence from blowing over?

Stand every panel in a tube stand, add Z-Block weights, and fit stabilizers pinned or anchored to the ground on exposed runs. On open sites, the Windbreaker stabilizers take cinder blocks or ZND weights as ballast.

What is an anti-lift bracket?

It holds a ZND panel down on its stands so the panel cannot be lifted out of the line. One comes in every ZND stabilizer kit, and it is also sold separately.

Do these accessories fit other panel brands?

They are made for ZND temporary fence panels, and the product data lists only ZND panels as compatible. Check the frame of another brand before you combine them.

Which fence cover sizes are there?

Two: 5'8" x 50 ft for 6 ft panels and 7'8" x 50 ft for 8 ft panels, each in black, green or blue.

Can I turn a temporary fence panel into a gate?

Yes. Four gate hinge couplers, a male and female latch and a gate wheel assembly make a swing gate, and the sliding gate kits convert one or two panels into a sliding gate.
