Sports Fencing
Sports fencing is a rigid welded wire fence around a court, field or soccer cage that keeps the ball in play and protects players and spectators. Our system uses 0/4/0 GA double wire panels on round posts, joined with brackets and tube connectors, plus a rebound panel for kick zones. Choose the panel height for your site, then the posts and fittings for your layout. Read more

What is sports fencing?
Sports fencing surrounds a playing area to stop balls from leaving it and to keep players away from roads, parking areas and neighbors. Because balls hit the fence hard and often, it is built from heavy welded panels instead of light mesh, mounted on strong round posts.
Which panel is used for sports fencing?
The main panel is the double wire fence panel: two 0 GA horizontal wires and one 4 GA vertical wire, welded at every crossing, with a 2" x 8" mesh and a panel width of 8'2". The double horizontal wires make the panel rigid, so it takes ball impact without bulging.
- Heights: 4', 6' and 8'.
- Finishes: hot-dip galvanized (HDG), or galvanized and powder coated black RAL 9005.
- Rebound panel: 8' high and 8'2" wide, in black.
What is a rebound fence?
A rebound fence panel takes the hardest hits at the bottom of the fence, where most kicks land. Our rebound panel uses the same 0/4/0 GA wire, with a tighter 2" x 2-5/8" mesh in the lower 2 ft. It is 8' high, 8'2" wide and black, and listed as a half panel. Use it behind goals, along kick walls and in soccer cages.
Round posts, brackets and connectors
The panels mount on round posts with clamp-on brackets, and the tube connectors let you build frames from round tube.
- Fence posts: round posts in 2-3/8", 7', 9', 10' or 11' long, and in 3-1/2", 13', 16', 19' or 22' long for tall ball stop fences.
- Longlip fence brackets: end, corner and inline versions that clamp the panel to a round post; each product page gives the post size it fits.
- Post clamping collars for 2-3/8" and 3-1/2" posts.
- Mowing collars for 2-3/8" and 3-1/2" posts, fitted around the foot of the post where mowers and trimmers work.
- T-connectors (1-5/8" x 2-3/8" x 1-5/8", 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" x 2-3/8" and 2-3/8" x 3-1/2" x 2-3/8") and a 3-way connector for 2-3/8" tube.
- Aluminum tube connectors for 1-5/8" and 2-3/8" tube.
How high should a sports fence be?
The right height depends on the sport, how hard the ball is hit and what lies beyond the fence. Along a sideline, a 4' fence lets spectators watch. Around a court or a play area, 6' keeps most balls in. Behind goals, in soccer cages and next to a road, use the 8' panel. If you are unsure, send us the layout of your court or field and we will help you choose.
How do I build a ball stop fence?
- Measure each side of the area and divide by the panel width of 8'2" to count the panels. Round up.
- Count the posts: one more than the number of panels on each straight run, with one shared post where two runs meet at a corner.
- Choose a bracket for every post position: end, corner or inline.
- Set the posts in concrete, plumb and in line, and add mowing collars on grass.
- Mount the panels with the brackets, then add rebound panels in the kick zones.
- Build any extra frames with the T-connectors and tube connectors.

Frequently asked questions
How tall are the sports fence panels?
The double wire panels come 4', 6' and 8' high, and the rebound panel is 8' high.
What is a rebound fence?
A rebound panel takes hard kicks at the bottom of the fence. Ours has a tighter 2" x 2-5/8" mesh in the lower 2 ft.
What posts are used for sports fencing?
Round posts in 2-3/8" and 3-1/2", with longlip brackets in end, corner and inline versions to clamp the panels.
Can I build a soccer cage with these panels?
Yes. Combine the double wire panels and rebound panels with round posts and connectors, and add a street soccer goal from our Soccer Goal category.
Which finishes are available?
The panels come hot-dip galvanized, or galvanized and powder coated black RAL 9005.
How many panels do I need?
Divide the length of each side by the panel width of 8'2" and round up. Add one post more than the panels on each straight run.
