Gate Adapter

Gate locks, keeps and closers are made for a flat, square face. Many gates and posts do not have one: chain link gates hang on round posts, ornamental gates often have flat bar profiles, and barred fencing has no solid face for a closer. An adapter gives the hardware the surface it needs, so you can fit it securely without changing the gate or the post.

• The Locinox Modulec adaptor plate is made for round posts.
• The MagnaLatch Series 3 with Round Post Adapter Kit from D&D Technologies supplies the latch with a kit that fits it to round gate frames and posts of 1-7/8" to 2-7/8", for pool, child safety and garden gates. Fasteners are included.
• The separate MagnaLatch S3 Round Post Adapter, in Pool Gate Latch, adapts MagnaLatch Series 3 and ALERT latches to round gate frames of 1-3/8" and 1-5/8" and round posts of 1-7/8" to 2", 2-1/2" and 2-7/8".
• For Gatemaster locks, the stainless steel Superlock Round Bar Adapter, listed in Gate Keep, fits any Superlock and its keep to round bar gates and round posts such as chain link gates.

For gate closers on round posts, Locinox lists an adaptor plate for the Lion closer in Gate Closer.

The Locinox aluminum adapter case is made for flat profiles, the flat bar that many ornamental gates are built from. Ask us which lock it takes before you order.

• An adaptor plate for SA keeps.
• An adaptor plate for SH keeps.
• An adaptor plate for LA, LM and LS locks.
• An adapter plate set with an integrated handle for the keep side.

The Locinox Rail-Fit rail clamp is made for mounting gate closers on barred fencing. Choose the closer first in Gate Closer, then add the clamp for a barred fence.

1. Note the name of the lock, keep, latch or closer you want to fit.
2. Measure the post or profile: the outside diameter of a round post, or the width and thickness of a flat profile.
3. Pick the adapter that names both your hardware and your post shape.
4. Fit the adapter first, then mount the hardware on it as the hardware instructions describe.
