Pool Gate Latch

A pool gate has one job: to stay shut unless an adult opens it. Most US pool codes ask for a barrier at least 48" high with self-closing, self-latching gates; the exact rules are set locally, so check your local code. A self-latching latch catches the gate on its own when the self-closing hinges bring it back, with no one having to set it by hand.

The MagnaLatch ALERT Top Pull combines a magnetic child safety gate latch with an electronic alarm: flashing LEDs and an audible alert warn you when the gate is opened or left unlatched. A latch only works on a pool gate if the gate swings back to it every time. Fit self-closing hinges such as TruClose, with the TruClose safety cap that covers the tension adjuster so the closing force cannot be backed off, or a SureClose hinge-closer. You will find them in Self Closing Hinges.
