Highlights

Top and bottom rails
One of each per 70-7/8" bay: the bottom rail sets the first slat.

Caps and clips
A cap keeps water out of each post; a clip fills an empty groove.

Any corner angle
The variable angle profile sets a corner between 45 and 135 degrees.

Walls and slopes
A starter profile meets a wall, adjusting blocks step the fence on a slope.
The parts of a finished bay
A Gardenode Equinox bay is more than posts and slats. A bottom rail sets the first slat, a top rail closes the bay 1-3/16" below the top of the post, and a cap finishes each post. The parts below are made for the Equinox profiles and come in the same anthracite gray, quartz gray, black and teak as the slats.
Rails, caps and clips
- Top rail and bottom rail: 70-7/8", one of each per bay; a separate louver bottom rail starts a run of louvers.
- Post caps: for the 2-3/4" x 2" and the 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" post, to keep water out and finish the top.
- Post clip: fills the empty groove of the first and last post of a run, under the cap; one comes with every post, in 73-7/8" and 82-5/8" lengths.
Profiles for walls, corners and slopes
- Starter profile with cap: 82-5/8", fixes the fence to a wall or another structure instead of a post.
- Variable angle profile: a two-part profile that clips onto the post and sets any corner between 45 and 135 degrees; a 90 degree corner needs only the post.
- Adjusting block: steps the fence with sloping ground under the bottom rail.
- Fixing block: holds the bottom rail in the post groove and keeps the expansion gap composite slats need; a composite fence takes at least two per bay.
Base plates and spacers
- Steel base plates: bolt a post to a slab or low wall, 5-1/8" x 5-1/8" for the 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" post and 4-3/4" x 3-7/8", or a plate with cover, for the 2-3/4" x 2" post. Keep a fence on base plates to 5'3".
- Spacers: hold openwork slats 5/8" apart, and louver spacers set the slope of the louvers: a bag of 10 starter spacers for the first slat and a bag of 24 intermediate spacers per bay up to 72-7/8".
- Fortress Athens Poly-Loc clips: fix Athens panels to their posts, in bags of six.
Ordering the right quantities
Per bay, order one top rail and one bottom rail; per post, one cap; per first and last post of a run, a clip for its empty groove. Add a starter profile where the fence meets a wall, a variable angle profile at each corner that is not square, and base plates wherever posts stand on concrete.
Frequently asked questions
Which accessories does every Gardenode bay need?
A bottom rail and a top rail per bay, a cap per post and a clip for the empty groove of the first and last post of a run. Openwork slats also need spacers.
How do I connect an aluminum fence to a wall?
With the starter profile: it fixes to the wall and takes the slats like a post groove, and its cap finishes the top.
How do I build a corner that is not 90 degrees?
Clip the variable angle profile onto the post. It sets any angle between 45 and 135 degrees.
Can an aluminum fence follow a slope?
Yes. Adjusting blocks under the bottom rail step each bay with the grade.
Which base plate fits my post?
5-1/8" x 5-1/8" for the 3-1/8" x 3-1/8" post; 4-3/4" x 3-7/8", or the plate with cover, for the 2-3/4" x 2" post.
Do the accessories match the slat colors?
Yes. Rails, caps, clips, profiles and base plates come in anthracite gray, quartz gray, black and teak, like the posts and slats.
