Highlights

Never rusts
Powder-coated aluminum keeps its color and shape, even beside a pool or the coast.

Privacy slats
Gardenode Equinox slats close the view completely, or let air through as louvers.

Ornamental pickets
Fortress Athens and A2 picket panels mark the boundary and keep the view.

No upkeep
No staining, sealing or painting: a yearly rinse is all it needs.
What is an aluminum fence?
An aluminum fence is a fence of extruded aluminum profiles with a powder-coated finish. Aluminum does not rust, weighs about a third of steel and needs no paint or stain, so the fence keeps its color and shape for decades with no more care than a yearly rinse. Fenceweb sells two aluminum systems, each complete with its own posts, gates and fittings.
Two systems: privacy slats or ornamental pickets
- Gardenode Equinox privacy fence: horizontal aluminum slats slide into grooved posts and close the view completely, as louvers that let air through, or as openwork with 5/8" gaps. Seven laser-cut decorative panels fit the same bays. Colors: anthracite gray, quartz gray, black and teak.
- Fortress Athens ornamental fence: residential picket panels 3 to 6 ft high and 6 ft (71") wide, with 5/8" pickets, in flat top, pressed spear, extended picket and pool styles. Limited lifetime warranty.
- Fortress A2 ornamental fence: the commercial line, 4 to 6 ft high, in 6 ft (71") and 8 ft (94") panels with 3/4" pickets and 1-1/2" rails, for pools, apartment communities, schools and offices. Limited lifetime warranty.
Which aluminum fence do I need?
Choose by what the fence has to do. For privacy around a yard, patio or pool deck, choose Gardenode Equinox: a bay of twelve solid slats is about 6 ft tall and blocks the view entirely. To mark a boundary while keeping the view open, choose an ornamental picket fence: Fortress Athens for a home or a residential pool, Fortress A2 where the fence takes heavier use, such as a school, a park, an apartment complex or a commercial pool.
Why aluminum instead of wood, vinyl or steel?
- No rust: aluminum forms its own oxide layer, so a scratch in the coating does not spread into corrosion, even near salt water or a chlorinated pool.
- No upkeep: no staining, sealing or painting, and no rot, warping or splitting as with wood.
- Light and strong: easy to carry and install, yet rigid enough for gates and tall privacy screens.
- Lasting color: the powder coat holds its color in sun and frost.
- Recyclable: aluminum can be recycled again and again without losing its properties.
Aluminum pool fencing
Fortress marks the panels that meet the pool code in its product guide: Athens from 48" high and A2 from 54", including dedicated pool styles with a flat bottom rail. A pool barrier also needs a self-closing, self-latching gate. Pool rules differ by state and by town, so check your local code before you order.
What a complete aluminum fence includes
- Panels or slats: the infill between the posts.
- Posts: routed for the panel style on a Fortress fence, grooved for the slats on a Gardenode fence.
- Gates: walk gates and drive gates that match the fence, with their own gate posts.
- Accessories: caps, rails, clips, profiles, base plates and spacers that finish each bay.
Order every part from one system. The grooves, routing and clips of each system are made for its own profiles, so a Gardenode slat will not fit a Fortress post, and the other way round.
Installing an aluminum fence
Both systems are built post by post. Gardenode posts stand 72-7/8" apart on center and go into concrete in a hole about 16" square and 20" deep; on a patio or low wall they bolt to a steel base plate, with the fence kept to 5'3" for wind load. Fortress panels fit between posts routed for their rails, so the posts are set at the panel width as you go. Frost depth and soil decide the final depth of every post.
Ordering and delivery
Fenceweb delivers to every state in the United States and to Canada. Fortress panels and gates ship by freight from Fortress in Garland, Texas, and small parts ship by parcel; delivery is quoted with your order. A color or size without a price on its product page is sold on request: choose it there and contact us, or request a quote for a complete project.
Frequently asked questions
Do aluminum fences rust?
No. Aluminum forms a protective oxide layer instead of rust, and the powder coat on top keeps the color. That is why aluminum suits yards near the coast and fences around pools.
Which aluminum fence gives full privacy?
Gardenode Equinox with solid slats. Twelve slats stack into a closed screen about 6 ft tall. Louver slats also block the view while letting air through; ornamental picket fences such as Fortress Athens keep the view open.
What is the difference between Fortress Athens and A2?
Athens is the residential line: 3 to 6 ft high, 6 ft (71") panels and 5/8" pickets. A2 is the commercial line: 4 to 6 ft high, 6 ft (71") or 8 ft (94") panels, 3/4" pickets and 1-1/2" rails. Both carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Can an aluminum fence be used around a pool?
Yes. Fortress marks its pool-code panels: Athens from 48" and A2 from 54". Combine them with a self-closing, self-latching gate and check your local pool code before you build.
How long does an aluminum fence last?
Decades. Aluminum does not rot or rust, and Fortress backs Athens and A2 with a limited lifetime warranty. A yearly clean with a sponge and clean water is all the care it needs.
Can I install an aluminum fence myself?
Yes. Both systems are built post by post with standard tools: set the posts in concrete or on base plates, then slide in the slats or fix the panels. Each product page lists the posts, caps and fittings that belong with it.
Do you deliver aluminum fencing across the US?
Yes. Fenceweb delivers to every US state and to Canada. Panels and gates ship by freight and small parts by parcel, and delivery is quoted with your order.
Can I mix parts from different aluminum fence brands?
No. The grooves, routing and clips of each system fit only its own profiles. Order the posts, panels or slats and accessories from the same system.
