Chain Link Fence Accessories

• Tension bar: a 3/16" x 5/8" flat steel bar woven through the last row of diamonds, 2" shorter than the fabric. One wherever the fabric ends, two at a post the fabric runs past on both sides.
• Tension bands: flat 3/4" bands that clamp the tension bar to the post. Use one for every foot of fence height, less one: three for a 4 ft fence, five for 6 ft.
• Brace bands: heavier bands that bolt the rail end cup, a truss rod or the tension wire to the post.
• Rail end cup: takes the end of the top rail, for 1-3/8" or 1-5/8" rail.
• Carriage bolt with nut, 5/16" x 1-1/4": one for every tension band and brace band.
• Dome cap: closes the top of the post.

The bands are made for 2-3/8", 2-7/8" and 4" posts and are sold without bolts.

A die-cast aluminum loop cap closes the line post and carries the top rail through its eye. Choose it by both sizes, the post and the rail; the residential standard is a 1-5/8" post with a 1-3/8" rail.

Aluminum hook ties fasten the fabric, in bags of 100. Tie it to every line post every 12" and to the top rail every 24". The 6-1/2" tie fits 1-5/8" posts and the top rail; the 8-1/4" tie wraps around 2-3/8" posts.

On fences of 6 ft and up, a line rail clamp holds a mid rail to each line post, and on commercial fences a bottom rail.

9 gauge tension wire runs along the bottom of the fence from terminal to terminal, fixed with a brace band at each end. It comes in a 10 lb coil of about 170 ft. Hog rings close the bottom of the fabric to the wire every 24", about 140 to 150 to a 1 lb bag. The wire stops the fabric being pushed out or lifted by an animal or a child.

Dome caps in die-cast aluminum fit posts from 1-3/8" to 4" and push over every terminal and gate post. Line posts take a loop cap instead. In the galvanized system the caps are bare aluminum. Other caps in this category include a cap with a pass-through, an end and brace post cap and an aluminum brace end cap.

A gate hinge set has a post hinge that bolts around the gate post and a frame hinge that drops over its pin; each gate leaf takes two sets. Hang the top hinge with its pin up and the bottom one with its pin down, and the gate cannot be lifted off. The fork latch closes a walk gate against its post and takes a padlock. Both are sized by the post and come with bolts.

• Truss rod, 3/8", with a tightener: braces a terminal post diagonally against the next line post on fences of 6 ft and up.
• Weld-on base plate, 6" x 6" x 1/4", bare steel: weld it to the foot of a post on a slab, paint it and anchor it with four concrete bolts.
• Touch-up spray, 12 oz: black paint for the black system, zinc-rich cold galvanizing for the galvanized one.

Barbed wire arms for round 2-3/8" posts, straight or 45 degree angled for three strands, carry barbed wire in rolls of 656 ft or 820 ft.
