Gatemaster Superlock 2.0 single-sided code lock for wooden gates
A surface-fixed digital gate lock with a keypad on one side and a rear lever handle on the other: a simple solution for convenient access control on a wooden gate. The lock is auto-latching, and access from outside can only be gained by entering the code.
Operation
Close the gate and the latchbolt latches into the keep. To open from outside, enter the code and turn the handle; from inside, use the lever handle. A hold-back function keeps the gate unlocked while it is activated. The mechanical keypad needs no power, and the lock is also available with keypads on both sides.
Durability
Marine grade keypads and a powder-coated die-cast casing make the lock corrosion resistant. Gatemaster gives a 5-year warranty on the Superlock 2.0 range. Certain features are protected under European Patent No. 3354825.
Fit and installation
The latchbolt is adjustable in length for a precise fit to your wooden gate, and the lock comes in left and right-hand versions. As standard the fixings suit gates up to 2-15/16" thick; for a thicker gate you need the extension kit BDGWE140. A code changing pack, a gate bracket and a keep with fixings are in the box.

Installation
- 1Position the L bracket at a suitable height on the outside of the gate and mark it for reference. On outward-opening gates, leave a gap of at least 3/4" between the end of the L plate and the post so the lock does not clash with the keep when the gate opens. Start the holes with a smaller drill bit, using the plate as a jig
- 2Drill the holes part way through, then mark and drill from the other side so the holes come out straight.
- 3Once it is cut to length, insert the spindle, place the lock body over it and fix it with the M8 fixing bolts and the cover plate supplied. Tighten the bolts with a 0.197" hex key.
- 4To fit the keep, line it up with the lock, mark the position on the gate post and fasten it with the screws supplied.

Frequently asked questions
Will it survive outdoors all year?
It is built for it. The bodies are pressure die-cast and powder-coated, latchbolts are stainless steel and the keypads are marine grade, so salt air and rain are not a problem. Follow the maintenance schedule on this page - a spray of light oil a few times a year is what keeps a gate lock feeling new after a decade outside.
What warranty comes with this product?
Gatemaster gives a 5-year warranty on the Superlock 2.0 range and a manufacturer's warranty on the rest of the program, covering defects in material and workmanship. Keep your invoice: that is the proof of purchase a claim is assessed on. Damage from forcing, from the wrong installation or from missed maintenance is not covered - which is why the maintenance schedule on this page is worth following.
Is this in stock and how fast can I get it?
Gatemaster hardware is part of our standard program, so the common versions ship from stock. If you need a quantity for a project, or you are not sure which version fits your gate, ask us for a quote - we will check the frame size and handing with you before anything is picked.
How fast can I change the code on a RapidReset model?
In about ten seconds, without taking the lock off the gate and without tools. That matters where the code has to change often - a building site, a holiday let, a shared bin store or after a contractor leaves. The mechanism stays mechanical, so there is still nothing to power or charge.
Does this code lock need power or batteries?
No. The keypad is fully mechanical, so there is no wiring, no batteries and nothing to replace. That is what makes it suitable for gates at the far end of a site, allotments, bin stores and anywhere a cable run would be impractical - and it keeps working in a power cut.
How do I know whether I need a left-hand or a right-hand lock?
Stand on the outside of the gate - the side you approach from. If the hinges are on your left, you need a left-hand lock; if they are on your right, a right-hand lock. Gatemaster locks in this range are reversible: you loosen the locking screw in the end of the latchbolt with the 0.118" hex key supplied, turn the bolt through 180 degrees and tighten it again.
Will this work on a wooden gate?
Yes - this is a surface-mounted model designed for timber. It bolts through the face of the gate rather than into a metal frame, and the fixings allow for the swelling and shrinking that timber goes through between seasons. As standard the fixings suit gates up to 2-15/16" thick; above that you need the extension kit.
