Gate Latch

A latch catches the gate when it swings shut and holds it there until someone lifts, pulls or turns it. A self-latching latch catches on its own, which is what a self-closing gate needs; a manual latch has to be set by hand. Some latches also lock with a key or take a padlock.

MagnaLatch latches from D&D Technologies use permanent magnets, so they latch without mechanical jamming. The MagnaLatch Series 3 Top Pull is a child and pool safety gate latch with a visible indicator that shows locked or unlocked and a lock that can be rekeyed to match your doors; it fits square posts of 1" and up. The range also includes Series 3 Vertical Pull and Side Pull models, and ALERT versions with flashing LEDs and an audible alert when the gate is opened or left unlatched. The ALERT Vertical Pull is for pet, front, side and perimeter gates and is not intended for pool or child safety gates.

LokkLatch latches from D&D Technologies are key-lockable. The External Access Kit adds an outside push button, so the gate can be opened from both sides. The LokkLatch Round S3 is made for round posts, such as chain link gates at tennis courts and sports grounds: it operates and locks from both sides, comes with the External Access Button and includes adapters for round gate and fence posts. LokkLatch Deluxe, Magnetic and Plus complete the range.

D&D gate kits box the latch with the hinges for one gate, so the hardware arrives matched under one part number. MagnaLatch gate kits come in 16 combinations, and MagnaLatch Top Pull kits pair the latch with TruClose Regular Series 3 hinges and a safety cap. LokkLatch kits come in 14 combinations with TruClose or KwikFit hinges, and the larger Deluxe kits add a gate handle, a GateStop and a LokkBolt drop bolt.

The D&D Wood Hardware range covers timber gates:

• Regular and Heavy-Duty Gravity Latch: self-latching and padlockable, for left or right handed, in-swing or out-swing gates; the heavy-duty version releases from the far side with a wire.

The T-Latch is a general-purpose toggle latch for aluminum, vinyl and wood gates that takes a padlock.

Fortress latches are sized to the gate upright and the post they meet. The Versai residential fork latch comes in 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" or 1-1/2" x 2" for Versai walk gates, and residential fork latches come in 2" x 2" and 1-1/2" x 2-1/2". ProSeries slide latches come in residential/commercial and commercial/industrial versions, with single and double swing gate receivers; the commercial/industrial slide latch fits 2", 2-1/2" or 3" posts.

For double gates, the LokkBolt drop bolt has a 316 marine-grade stainless steel rod and a rekeyable 6-pin lock, and seats in the molded LokkBolt base plate. The Q-Bolt is a padlockable stainless steel drop bolt in 24" or 40" lengths. The D&D Gate Handle is a polymer handle for left or right-hand gates.
