Not every gate needs a hydraulic closer or a 1000 lb hinge. KwikFit is for the pedestrian gate, the side gate and the courtyard gate: it self-closes gates up to 44 lb (20 kg) with a fixed spring tension, or pivots freely if you only want a hinge.

Aluminum or polymer

The aluminum range is die-cast and finished in black, bronze or white, which suits a gate where the hardware is visible and needs to match. The polymer Series 3 versions are the same idea in engineering-grade plastic, cheaper and completely rust-proof, and come as a fixed-spring-tension self-closing hinge or a plain pivoting hinge.

Mounting options

Wall or post mounted versions fit a flat surface. Versions with alignment ridges locate themselves against the frame, which saves measuring on a run of gates. Versions with two side fixing legs bolt into the side of the gate frame as well as the face, for a stronger fixing on a gate that will be used hard. A 1 inch leg model covers narrow frames.

What it will not do

KwikFit is a light-duty hinge. At 44 lb self-closing capacity it is not the hinge for a timber gate with close-boarded infill, a wide gate, or anything a vehicle passes through. Step up to TruClose for 66 to 154 lb, or SureClose for 180 lb and above.

Fasteners

Not supplied, so you can match the screw to the gate material. Use the D&D screw pack for your material — particularly on vinyl without a metal stiffener, which needs a specific fastener.
