A separate closer means another bracket, another arm across the gate and another thing to adjust. A SureClose unit is the hinge, so the gate carries no visible closer hardware and there is one adjustment to make instead of two. Closing speed is adjustable, and the final latching action is separately controlled so the gate arrives at the latch with enough force to engage it and no more.

ConcealFit: nothing visible at all

ConcealFit hides the entire mechanism inside the gate and post. It handles gates up to 220 lb (100 kg) and 48 inch wide, opens to roughly 125 degrees, and snaps closed over the final 12 degrees. Minimum gate thickness is 1 3/4 inch because the unit lives inside the frame. Weld boxes in aluminum and steel, a closer drill jig for timber, and receiver hinges are all stocked, sold as kits or individually. EASY, ReadyFit and the mount options

SureClose EASY is a single-unit closer on an aluminum bracket for gates up to 180 lb, self-closing from 90 degrees, and it installs in well under an hour. ReadyFit arrives pre-assembled with the bracket and fasteners, in aluminum or steel bracket versions, including safety-gate variants that will not hold the gate open. Center Mount and Flush Mount describe where the unit sits relative to the gate frame — Flush Mount versions include an AT90 hold-open at 90 degrees, and the 57 and 108 model numbers indicate the hydraulic body size and therefore the gate weight it will handle.

Gate stops and safety gates

A hydraulic closer needs something to close against: a gate stop must be fitted so the gate cannot be pushed past the closed position. The adjustable ReadyFit gate stop is stocked for this, and post mounting brackets in center and flush mount versions are available where the post profile needs one. On pool and child-safety gates use the safety-gate (SF) versions, which will not hold the gate open at any angle.

A hydraulic closer is a mechanical part

Set the closing speed slowly and check it seasonally: hydraulic fluid thickens in cold weather, so a gate set perfectly in August can close too slowly in January.
