Most D&D hardware is polymer precisely because polymer cannot rust. But some jobs specify metal — an architectural gate, a food or medical site that gets hosed down, a coastal property, or a spec that simply says stainless. In those cases a zinc-plated hinge is the wrong answer, because the plating will be gone in a season and the gate will streak.

V-notch self-closing hinges

The self-closing hinges use a V-notch cam: as the gate opens, the notch rides up and gravity plus spring tension returns it. Tension is adjustable, so the closing force can be set to the gate. They come in narrow-to-narrow (N-N), standard-to-narrow (S-N) and standard-to-standard (S-S) versions — that refers to the leaf widths on the gate side and the post side, so pick the combination that matches your frame sections. There are also no-spring versions where you want the hinge without the self-closing action, including a heavy duty S-S.

Wrap-around hinges

The 2 inch wrap-around hinge wraps the post rather than sitting on its face, which suits square tube posts and gives a very solid fixing without a large mounting plate.

Post latches

Standard and contemporary post latches match the hinges, in stainless, for gates where the whole ironmongery set needs to be the same material and finish.

Finishes

Black and white powder coated finishes over stainless are stocked alongside the plain stainless, so the hardware can match a coated gate while keeping the corrosion resistance of the base metal.

Fasteners

Fasteners are included with these hinges and latches. Pre-drilling is recommended — stainless fasteners gall if they are driven hard and dry.
